A year ago, I released a Sly Cooper fan game called Sly Cooper: A Thief in Paris. Since then, I’ve been silent about it. For anyone who’s curious, this is what I’ve been up to.
What’s New?
Making a Sly Cooper fan game brought me back to the original series, to my copy of the Thievius Racoonus. This year, I focused on platformer movement and Sly’s gameplay mechanics. I added velocity-based thief moves, precise measurements, gravity deceleration, and a smooth camera system. I also added pick-pocketing, a paraglider, and basic guard AI. Plus, I programmed Sly’s tail (a few times).
I also have a team working on 3d modeling, design, and animation! They focused on creating custom assets including new Sly and Carmelita models and organizing our project on a sleek Notion page.
Here are some development videos of our work: Ledge Grab, Ambiance, Guard AI, Paraglider, A Thief in Godot.
Future Plans for Sly Cooper: A Thief in Paris?
I don’t see a full game coming out of this project for at least a few years, and the team would need to grow to make that happen in a serious way. It’s something I’m open to doing if the circumstance arises, so feel free to reach out.
Currently, my goal is to build a platform for people to make their own Sly Cooper games.
Everybody has a unique idea of where they’d like to see the series go next, and if I can support that by creating a solid base for people to make Sly Cooper fan games, that would be amazing.

The project’s live source files are available on GitHub, and I encourage you to toy around with them. Anyone may add or modify anything in any way they’d like. Sly’s movement is very much there, but a lot of the things I made for Sly Cooper: A Thief in Paris (the original project) need to be ported to our new project, Sly Cooper: A Thief in Godot.
Sly Cooper: A Thief in Godot is what the team and I are developing moving forward.
I want to post updates on my projects more often, so subscribe to my YouTube channel and newsletter if you’d enjoy that. 🙂
