Prologue

Oh, what to say  here?
Who am I? What are my goals? What’s my birth sign?
(kidding about the birth sign)

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.
-Aristotle

Placeholder ImageBefore we get this going, I’d like to express my greatest fear in doing this along with what I’m excited about.

By, “this thing” I mean this blog. “But a blog can be lots of things,” you say. . .
Well, this blog is trying to be a life/travel blog with lots of tangents along the way.

Like, lots of tangents. Here’s one now.

My plans are to travel, finish getting my degree, and then teach ESL (English as a Second Language), travel, and tell you all about it here on  my blog! I also write fantasy books, play guitar, and love to kick it with a swanky video game; those will probably go into the tangents category, which will take up a good chunk of this site. 🙂

Recently I’ve been trying to learn how to do a front flip, and aside from the “it’s cool” factor, am willing to flail myself around because I love to challenge my body and try new things. Striving toward physical and mental goals is a big part of my life.

As for mental goals, I’ve been brushing up on my Italian, focusing on an ongoing book project, and trying to start up this blog!

That front flip is way hard though.

TANGENT OVER

Anyway, in sharing parts of my life in this blog I can’t help but think of when my message won’t match my actions. That’s why that Aristotle quote is so important and haunting to me.

He also says that “The whole is more than the sum of all its parts,” and I’m hoping we’ll all keep that in mind when I’m back from my summer travels, finding a small job, and finishing up my degree.

Don’t get me wrong, though, I still plan to challenge myself and be a solid adventurer when I’m not traveling all over. It’ll just be a little harder; tunnel vision creeps in when people stay dormant.

I know, I’m not Aristotle. . . I’ll stop.

I’m not Aristotle.
-Noah

Just put that one there to remind me, anyways.
I’ll put that in the tangent category too.

So, as you can probably see, my biggest fear is leading a boring life, especially if I promote the opposite. I don’t like to bore people, ya know?

Let’s shift gears a little bit and talk about what I’m most excited for in starting this blog.

. . . .

. . . . Oh you can’t talk here. I was trying to give you the space to talk but forgot that you just can’t talk here.

Wouldn’t it be cool if comments on blogs worked like comments on sound cloud?!

Like, on any specific point in the post, you could pin your comment and replies would just chain from there!

I should try that. I bet I could maybe try that.

Let’s not and say we did.

You’re beginning to see the tangents. I’m glad.

What’s not to be excited about, though?! Pushing myself to get out a bit more, do the things I’d love to do, see the world in a different way, fragmenting sentences?
All about that!

So I hope you’re excited to see somebody try, fail, and live. My greatest wish is that it inspires you to climb your mountain and live life from the summit.

(Cheesy, I know, but hey come on.)
