Affording to Travel

I’ve been to France, Austria, England, Scotland, and have lived in Italy for three months. I’m not the best with my money. Earlier this year, I wasted $1500 moving to a different state, only to move back after THREE WEEKS, and when I’m with friends, somehow thirty bucks spend quick. Despite me being a generally ditsy guy, I still demand to afford something I love: travel.

Get Cheap Plane Tickets

Changing the dates and location around on Google Flights has saved me hundreds of dollars. Don’t be afraid of those long flying days, either!
However, that’s the basic stuff. Here’s my secret weapon:

Ari.
This guy is amazing. He emails you dates and destinations where plane tickets are unnaturally low. You buy the tickets through Google Flights, not him!
His only catch is that he’d send you MORE opportunities if you subscribed to his Ultra Plan.
He’s not trying to scam you, and he doesn’t send spam.
He’s just got a really good thing going.

Here’s his website: https://flyalmostfree.com/

Find a Travel Job

When I can, I teach English in foreign countries! Right now, the pay isn’t amazing, but I’ve stayed with host families, gone on spontaneous adventures, and have made amazing friends.

To do this, you’ll need a TEFL certificate. I got mine BY teaching in Italy, with A.C.L.E. an amazing organization! (No BA Needed)
Some places even pay for your air, so take the dive if you’re curious!

Buy Things Early

Buying anything early or in the off-season is way less costly. Spend the time to buy that train ticket you know you’ll need and use what you’ve saved on good food or something!

Pinch Dem Pennies!

Spend money where you know it will have an effect! Skip the new, fancy chairs and plates, and instead spend that money on a life-changing experience.

Stay in a hostel, crash on somebody’s couch, don’t buy the fancy restaurant alcohol!

Be Patient

I know I’ll have a better trip if I wait, save up some money, and refrain from the many spontaneous travel urges those damn travel shows give me.

Don’t get the wrong idea. Being spontaneous is wonderful, but for now, I’m limiting myself to the little fun times.
Little fun times.

Conquer Your Dream

We all have dreams. The only thing that makes them come true is ourselves.

Affording something comes down to how willing you are to put in the work needed to do and become everything you’ve wished for. I hope you all take yourselves there!
